The founders

OUR HISTORY

One winter evening in 2019, I received a call from a designer friend who was coming to Paris to participate in the Maison & Objets show and who was going to spend a few days with me. Her particularity is that she collaborates ethically with artisans from several remote towns and villages in Morocco, to create unique pieces, handmade based on age-old know-how, but designed for a modern lifestyle. We then talked a lot. I told her about my fascination for designer objects, these rare pieces that have a soul thanks to their stories and those of their artisans, as well as my difficulty in finding them due to an overly fragmented offer. For her part, she explained to me that her articles were very successful across the Atlantic, thanks in particular to their subtle aesthetics and the social impact they generate, but that she has difficulty reaching a large and targeted audience in France.

These were the beginnings of Fany: a French concept store that would offer high-quality, handmade items, produced in small series by designers committed to an eco-responsible approach. Needless to say, I found in this project the answer to my quest for meaning and utility, and the cherry on the cake, by launching a project in a universe that fascinates me.

AT THE ORIGIN OF FANY

Chaymae has always been secretly fascinated by designer objects. In Paris or while traveling, she likes to get lost in the streets in search of hidden shops and rare pieces. What interests her most in these creations is the soul and the story of the craftsman behind these products. Chaymae has always been human-centered. While studying in business school, she volunteered for two years as a tutor for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

After a few years in digital marketing consulting at PwC, she decided to put her skills to the service of her passion and her values by founding Fany.

Salim is passionate about entrepreneurship. From a young age, he helped his grandmother transform her ancestral know-how of fine Moroccan pastries into a thriving business. During his university years, he was an active member of an association helping young entrepreneurs propel their start-ups.

Salim started his career in investment banking in Paris where he led projects in several sectors: healthcare, software and retail. In parallel, he co-developed A-Excellence, a non-profit organization offering underprivileged youth training, inspiration, networking and mentoring to help them reach their full personal and professional potential. From there, he succumbed to the temptation of entrepreneurship with the desire to have a positive impact on his environment, and considered Fany as a disruptive project combining exceptional products and ethical values.
